Naples Florida golf features more than 100 courses in the area with more being built! Naples claims 'more holes of golf per capita' than any other place in the world! And while the vast majority of Naples Fl golf courses are private, from May to October many of the area's private courses open to the public.
A large number of Naples residential housing developments are golf course communities. Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Fazio, Gary Player, Lee Trevino, Gordon Lewis, Robert Trent Jones Sr., P.B. Dye, Robert von Hagge, Dr. Michael Hurzdan, Robert Cupp and Arthur Hills are just a few of the world renowned golf course architects that have left their mark on some spectacular Naples Florida course designs, which is why Naples Florida plays host to numerous professional, national and state golf tournaments. TwinEagles plays host to the Champion Tour's ACE Group Classic and the LPGA's CME Group Titleholders. And of course, Tiburon plays host to Greg Norman's annual Franklin-Templeton Shark Shootout!
Naples Florida clubs and courses, whether public or private are visually stunning! Most feature numerous lakes, water hazards, sand bunkers and nature preserves incorporated within the golf course design, one of the joys of playing a golf in Naples and Southwest Florida is you can see nature in it's natural habitat. It's not unusual to see eagles, water birds, osprey, deer, panthers and even alligators during your round, no matter where you play in the area!
Due to it's location, Naples and SW Florida experience consistently warm weather, making the area ideal for golfing year-round in a tropical setting with lush vegetation and palm trees! During season (January-April) the daytime temperatures average in the 70's and 80's with very little rain, even the lowest temperatures in January average around 60°F. In the summer months temperatures range from 85° to 95°F,but be aware, most of the rain occurs between June to September.
Local Golf Legend
Not long after the Naples Beach Hotel Course was built (originally 9 holes), a small single engine airplane would often land on one of the fairways. The pilot would deplane and play a round, climb back into his plane and takeoff. All was well until a new Course Superintendent was appointed. When he saw this, he immediately chased the flyer away from HIS fairways!!! Mr. Lindbergh never landed on the golf course again!
